We employ the Japanese principle of ‘Kaizen’ to continuously strive for improvement. Kaizen, the Japanese word for ‘Good Change’ refers to activities that continually improve all functions, and involves all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers. It also applies to processes, such as purchasing and logistics, that cross organizational boundaries into the supply chain. By improving standardized activities and processes, kaizen aims to eliminate waste.
The cycle of kaizen activity is as follows:
- Standardize operations and activities.
- Measure the operation (find cycle time and amount of in-process inventory).
- Gauge measurements against requirements.
- Innovate to meet requirements and increase productivity.
- Standardize the new, improved operations.
- Continue cycle ad infinitum.
All employees at Novaprintex partake in a kaizen training program. Rewards are given to those employees that implement what they learn in their division.
Novaprintex uses Low liquor dyeing machines. The dyeing industry has been subjected to many challenges in the last two decades. The conventional overflow machines consume a large amount of water, electricity, steam and chemicals, which lead to high cost of wastewater treatment and serious pollution to environment. Our machines are designed to operate efficiently and at high quality with a very low ratio of water to material.
Our factory is located in the Bang Pu industrial park and abides by strict environmental regulations. The park has its own water treatment plant to recycle all wastewater leaving the factories.
In responsibly employing resources, Kaizen encourages our company to become more environmentally conscious. Not only do we continually update machinery to increase efficiency, we also create policies within the work place; for example, turning off lights and air conditioning during lunch hour and day field trips to plant trees at near by sites; all to decrease our carbon footprint.
Our employees are very important to us. We strive to constantly improve the work environment for our staff to keep them motivated and happy. We offer free breakfast and evening snacks, coffee breaks twice a day, a recreation room, nursery during school holidays, after work exercise and aerobic classes on site. We also arrange multiple events and field trips during the year including a sports day, day trips to the temple during auspicious holidays and a New years party.
Novaprintex is in the process of being audited by Inditex and aims to be fully compliant by the end of the year 2014
